Ghanaian legend songwriter and record producer Rocky Dawuni during his interview at class fm disclose that his Grammy Nomination has open a great door for other Ghanaian artistes to receive more nominations.
In an interview on Class FM, he said “Even when I was nominated, the statement I made on the red carpet when they asked me, I told them that my nomination was a testament to all the great artistes I learned from, upon whose footsteps I learned from, upon whose footsteps I learned from – the Ampadus and all of those Ghanaian legends, whose music when I was a child I was learning, cutting my chops and all of that kind of stuff.”
The tribute was to them because that was where I learned from and acquired a lot of different ideas and moved forward. So, it’s not a nomination that was self-serving for me, it’s a nomination for all of us, it’s opened the door. Other people can go get more nominations and win. It’s open but the only thing people have to know is that we’ve opened the door and that’s a very important thing.” he added.
