Kumasi Mayor leads in clean-up exercise ahead of Ghana’s 61st Independence celebration
As part of preparations towards this year’s 61st Independent Day celebration, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has embarked a clean-up within the metropolis.

Scores of residents and traders joined officials of KMA to clean the central business district and disilted choked gutters to ensure the free flow of water in the drains

Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Osei Assibey Antwi led a team of Assembly members and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) in the metropolis to areas like Nhyieso, Bantama, Dr. Mensah and others to ensure the places are tidy.

We want to ensure the metropolis is clean before and after Tuesday 6 March which is the climax of the Independence Day celebration”, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi told journalists who joined in the clean-up exercise.

“This is not going to be a nine-day wonder. …it will continue after the celebration”, the MCE added warning residents to desist from throwing refuse on streets and unauthorized places.

“The National Investment Bank is supporting the Assembly with huge sums of money to green and beautify the city”, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi hinted.
