Kay Wusu breaks silence on Wendy Shay ‘stealing’ “Masakra”

Ghanaian highlife musician Kay Wusu has finally broken his silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding Wendy Shay’s latest song, titled “Masakra”.

Wendy Shay was accused of cloning the late Ebony Reigns’ banger, titled “Hustle”, when she dropped “Masakra” on Wednesday, November 28.

A few hours later, another controversy set in – with Wendy being accused of lifting lyrics from Kay Wusu – a former MaddHaus Entertainment record label signee.

His song, titled “Asore”, which was released 4 years ago was said to have matched the lyrics of Wendy Shay’s “Masakra”.

But speaking to Kay Wusu, he said he was contacted by Wendy Shay’s RuffTown Record label for approval, thus, the singer cannot be accused of plagiarism or ‘theft’.

Kay Wusu told Pulse on Friday, November 30, that Bullet, who manages Wendy Shay, contacted him after the song was recorded but didn’t finalise on any financial terms or future royalties.

“They didn’t contact me when the song was being recorded but I was called after. Bullet called me not long ago to ask for my approval. We didn’t go deep but I gave the approval for the respect he has shown me,”he said.

“I cannot discuss any financial terms at the moment but I am hoping that Bullet would contact me for a discussion on that topic. I am okay with everything and I think it’s too early to draw a conclusion,” he added.

He said he has no plans of going to court should Wendy Shay’s management refuse to compensate him.

Kay Wusu also revealed that he has prepared a new banger for his fans to celebrate this Christmas with. According to him, the track is titled “Mehw3” and will drop on December 10.
